Galway Children Premiere Original Nature-Inspired Music for Biodiversity Week

Young voices from across Galway City will take centre stage this Biodiversity Week as part of Music in Nature, a creative project led by Music Generation Galway City.

On Thursday 21st of May, from 12 midday to 1.30pm, students from Radharc na Mara, Scoil Chroí Íosa, and Mercy Primary School will perform original songs they have written, inspired by biodiversity, climate action, and their connection to the natural world. The special outdoor concert will take place at Galway City Museum and is open to the public.

Now in its third year, Music in Nature places creativity at the heart of environmental awareness. Through weekly workshops, children explore themes of sustainability and local biodiversity, developing their own musical ideas into fully realised performances.

The project was developed by Musician Educators Caroline and Colin Stanley, and is delivered as part of Music Generation Galway City’s ongoing commitment to providing meaningful access to music education for young people.

This year’s concert represents a culmination of months of collaboration, songwriting, and exploration giving young participants a platform to share their voices and perspectives with the wider community.
The initiative is proudly supported by the Galway City Council Arts Office and by the Galway Roscommon Education and Training Board.

Members of the public and media are warmly invited to attend this uplifting celebration of music, creativity, and environmental awareness.
