On the streets of Galway
The whole of Galway city is set to ring in the New Year with a celebration featuring a programme of live family-friendly music on its iconic streets. From 6pm to 9pm, William Street, Cross Street and St. Nicholas Collegiate Church will all come alive with live music, culminating in a family-friendly countdown at St. Nicholas Collegiate Church at 8pm. The iconic and historic bells of Nicholas Collegiate Church will chime loudly, resonating through the city’s medieval streets. The three-hour live music programme features a diverse lineup catering to all tastes, ensuring a festive atmosphere for families and friends. The lineup includes Grand Soul Station, Galway International Retro Orchestra, Paul Moran & The Resolutions, La Orquesta Kalamares, Screaming Blue Cats, and John Connelly Inc. The Quays Bar
This NYE, The Quays and Fever105 are taking things back to the 80s with a funky 80s style New Years Eve party and you are all invited! Kickstart your New Year's Eve plans with the moving live performance as chief conductor Kirill Petrenko, an acclaimed interpreter of Wagner, conducts the first act of the opera at the Berliner Philharmoniker’s New Year’s Eve Concert. The programme opens with excerpts from Tannhäuser that encapsulate the grandeur of Wagner’s great work. Siegmund in Richard Wagner’s Walküre is a signature role for Jonas Kaufmann. The world-renowned tenor is passionate, radiant and combative in his portrayal of the tragic hero at the centre of a love triangle that confronts us with the emotional extremes of revenge, incest and lover’s bliss.
