Galway City New Year's Eve Celebration

Countdown: A special, family-friendly countdown will take place at 8.30pm, marked by the iconic chimes of St. Nicholas Collegiate Church bells.
Galway City New Year’s Eve Event invites families, residents, and visitors to welcome 2026 early with a vibrant celebration at St. Nicholas Collegiate Church. The grounds will come alive with entertainment starting with the Galway Ukulele Tribe, performing upbeat favourites from The Beatles, Bowie, The Saw Doctors, and more. They’ll be followed by TBL8, the dynamic brass band known for high-energy, modern twists on popular hits. Closing out the night is the electrifying PrYmary Colours, bringing their acclaimed fusion of music, dance, and performance right up to the early family countdown. Alongside the music, audiences can experience “Trick of the Light,” a stunning video-mapped installation on St. Nicholas Church, with additional displays at Spanish Arch. Created by local artists Jennifer Cunningham and Jane Cassidy with Merlin Park Training Centre, the work explores themes of community and connection. The installation, funded by Creative Ireland and Galway City Council, runs daily from 5pm, December 27th to January 2nd. Families can enjoy the surrounding festivities, including the Galway Christmas Market (10am-8pm), as well as Galway’s many cafés, restaurants, and bars. After the event finishes at 9pm, revellers are encouraged to continue their celebrations throughout the city.

As well as that, they will be taking things back to the 80’s and 90’s with DJ Flako playing the backstage venue. This New Year’s Eve, The Quays are bringing Big Digger to close out the year with some rocking tunes. They’ll be open from early for food and drink, with food being served until 9pm on the night.
