Corrib Féile–FLOW 2026: Three Days Celebrating Lough Corrib, Its Communities and Its Waters

Lough Corrib takes centre stage this September as Corrib Féile–FLOW brings three days of heritage, biodiversity, music, film, family activities and adventures on the water to Galway and the wider Corrib catchment. Read all about it below...

Running from Friday 18 to Sunday 20 September, the festival invites people to experience the Corrib from a new perspective, with heritage cruises, guided walks, kayaking, island exploration, traditional music, documentary film, biodiversity activities and community events.

The festival opens on Friday with the Cois Cuain Community Event at Cornamona Pier hosted by Helena McElmeel Architects in collaboration with Scoil Mhuire Cornamona and Architecture at the Edge. In Galway City join them on a Galway Waterways Walk through the city's canals and Claddagh Basin.

Saturday sees visitors take to the lake, with a Family Corrib Princess Cruise departing from Woodquay and boats travelling from both Oughterard and Lisloughrey piers to historic Inchagoill Island.

The Inchagoill Heritage Experience combines an exploration of the island with biodiversity on the Corrib, including Galway's butterflies with Kay Synott, and traditional music by the firepit.

Saturday evening turns to the stories and people of the lake with Voices of Lough Corrib at The Galmont Hotel. The event features a preview of the documentary by Dr Stefano Odorico, followed by Tom Kenny speaking about the legacy of Maurice Semple.

Sunday is dedicated to Celebrating Our Waters, beginning with the Corrib Princess Heritage & Biodiversity Cruise, featuring Galway City Council Biodiversity Officer David McNicholas, and Frances Giaquinto.

At Woodquay, Give It A Go Kayaking offers people a free opportunity to experience kayaking on the Corrib, while Galway Rowing Club hosts an afternoon of talks, displays, films and interactive activities exploring the heritage, biodiversity and future of the Corrib.

The programme includes citizen science and kick sampling, river and farming model demonstrations, biodiversity and invasive species information, and the Voices of the Corrib Polyphonic Series.

Corrib Féile–FLOW brings together communities, environmental experts, historians, artists and visitors to celebrate a waterway that has shaped the landscape, culture and communities of Galway for generations.

Whether you want to cruise it, walk it, paddle it, explore its history or discover the wildlife beneath its surface, the festival offers a different way to experience Lough Corrib.
