After the roaring success of their previous collaboration, two of Galway’s finest spots have gotten together again with another knockout pizza kit. The Dough Bros and Kai are buzzing to announce their limited edition Lamb Shawarma Pizza Kit featuring Dutch Gold Braised Connemara Lamb with Buckfast Hot Sauce! The kits are on sale from May 1st for €64.99 with free delivery on May 10th and 17th across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The kits will be available to order via The Dough Bros website.
Back by popular demand, this pizza kit collab is all about two true Galway legends: Dutch Gold and Buckfast. Inspired by endless summers down Spanish Arch with a bag of cans and a giddy glint in the eye, this kit is a throwback to days gone by. Days like these were a rite of passage in Galway.
"The idea from Jess for the pizza is something only she could come up with," says Eugene Greaney, one of the co-owners of The Dough Bros. "We wanted something that was very Galway and a throwback to our youth."
To properly test out this latest kit, Eugene and Ronan Greaney from The Dough Bros headed down to The Crane with Jess Murphy, the head chef at the multi-award-winning restaurant Kai. Jess is known for cooking extraordinary dishes with local produce and everyday ingredients, so she wanted to bring that approach to these kits.
"Think Galway and you might think of the races or Eyre Square, but if you’re a proper Galway head, you know down the West End or Spanish Arch is the place to be." Although she’s from New Zealand, Jess is Galway through and through. "And when you’re down the Sparch, what’s everyone drinking? Dutch Gold and Bucky. It just made sense to use these drinks for the collab."
Cooking the pizzas in their portable Gozney oven, Ronan, Eugene and Jess served up some tasty slices on an unreal, sunny Galway day.
The Dough Bros x Kai collab is going to be one to remember with a deadly set of ingredients, toppings, and bonus extras. On top of their much-loved pizza bases, you’ll find Connemara lamb braised in Dutch Gold and Middle Eastern spices, a Buckfast hot sauce, lime pickle mayo, and more. Inside the boxes, there’s also some limited edition keepsakes with stickers from Irish artist Hephee and a hangover defence supplement from the Irish brand Tipple.
"We’re getting on a bit now, so there’s not a hope we could keep up with our younger selves nowadays." Ronan from The Dough Bros wants these kits to be extra special. "If you’re like us, you might need a bit of help the morning after a long night in Galway."
The Dough Bros have been back shipping pizza kits from their new Dough Lab since January of this year, with a limited edition special pizza each month added to their regular offering of Boujee Margherita, Proper Pepperoni, and Vegan pizza kits.
