After making a striking entrance with their debut 'Existing Condition', Irish indie/post-punk outfit Petrel return with their follow-up single, 'Shame', released September 15th. Where the debut burned with tense immediacy, 'Shame' pushes Petrel further into their dynamic interplay between light and dark jagged guitar lines, frantic bass and urgent rhythms countered by Gerry Sheil’s softer, melodic vocal delivery. The result is a track that feels both tense and intimate, balancing stark moodiness with unexpected fragility.

Recorded in Dublin with producer Darragh Winters, the track captures the same restless energy that earned Petrel early acclaim from blogs and airplay across Irish and international radio, while marking a subtle evolution in their sound. "This band was never about imitation," says guitarist Eoin Reilly. "Every song has to feel real, otherwise it’s not worth doing. With Shame, we wanted to show another side of what we can do, creatively, we have to keep moving."

"Shame is a rumination on authenticity, a hole we’ve often found ourselves in everyday life and in our artistic work. There is a constant battle to avoid influence or stagnation in political beliefs, relationships and in music. The work that needs to be done to express ourselves freely, and without fear of failure, I think is something we can all struggle with. Shame, lyrically, dives into this internal argument in an effort to come out the other side knowing more about how we see the world and our own creative process", Gerry Sheil (Vocals)

Formed in 2025 but built on years within Ireland’s underground, Petrel are four frontmen in one room with Gerry Sheil of Theatre and Scattered Ashes on Guitar/Vocal, Eoin 'Fuz' Reilly of Slyrydes on Guitar, Mosey of Rural Savage and many more on Drums, and Ian McFarlane of Squarehead fame on Bass.
