Lads: It’s time for a Spa Getaway in Galway

Lads, we are here to tell you that you deserve a Spa Day too! We were recently treated to a day of relaxation in Shore Island Spa at Galway's Lough Rea Hotel & Spa and we couldn't recommend it enough. Find out more here...

Spa Days have been seen as a Day Out for the Gals for too long and we reckon it's time for the gentlemen of Ireland to start treating themselves to a bit of long-deserved pampering. Not only is a Spa Day at Lough Rea Hotel a great way to unwind from the corporate stresses of the work day, we also found it to be a great way to catch up with mates whether you are chatting while sitting back in the sauna or grabbing a beer on their Rooftop Garden after your treatment is finished.

We recently visited Lough Rea Hotel & Spa where we were treated to the Men’s Getaway Package. This includes a Yon-Ka Men's Facial to make your skin glow as well as a Back, Neck & Shoulder Massage to work out all those knots and feel the tension disappear. Shayna, the masseuse who provided the treatment, is extremely talented and will make you feel at ease from the moment you say hello. The massage was so relaxing we very nearly fell asleep, but stopped ourselves as we didn't want to miss a second! We were practically floating on air by the time we came out of the treatment room.

Probably our favourite part of the Men's Getaway package is that it also gives you access to the Thermal Suites. The Thermal Suites at Shore Island Spa in Lough Rea Hotel are absolutely unreal with a fabulous hot tub, foot spa, heated seats, sauna, steam room and more to sweat out all the bad stuff. As soon as you get out of the heat you can rub your skin with crushed ice - it feels so good, it's great for circulation and we got a little bit addicted to it so we ended up doing this three or four times during our stay.

They’ve also got two relaxation rooms, Light & Dark, so you can really chill out without getting wet or hot! The dark one is actually like being in a heavenly dream land and we almost fell asleep five times. The light one has stunning views and some fruit and water to make you feel extra healthy during your day of relaxation.

Once our time in the thermal suites and treatment rooms were over, we had a quick shower and a change of clothes before heading up to the absolutely stunning rooftop bar for a few beers, a cocktail or two and plenty of laughs, with breath-taking views of the surrounding area. On a clear day you can see the Clare Hills, The Connemara Mountains and Croagh Patrick but even on a grey day it's lovely to look across the rolling green fields and Loughrea Lake.
