KaRoSal to play Galway Fringe Festival

KaRoSal, the Galway three-part harmony vocal group, will be playing at the Galway Fringe Festival concert on Tuesday July 16th at 8pm. Learn more about this wonderful trio here...

The Fringe Festival show, which takes place in The Loft at Seven Bar on Bridge Street, comes at an exciting time for the trio of Kara Donohoe, Róna O’Riordan, and Sarah Toomey, as they have recently collaborated with Galway pop-rock band The Opacas on a new single ‘You Know Me’ to be released shortly.

KaRoSal’s repertoire draws from the folk, gospel and Americana traditions. They perform both a cappella and with acoustic guitar accompaniment. Their live sets include covers of 'Helplessly Hoping' by Crosby, Still & Nash’s, along with their own arrangements of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Gold Dust Woman’ and Ed Sheeran’s ‘I See Fire’.

The show in The Loft will also see KaRoSal unveil their original composition, ‘Holler If You Ever Wanna Sing That Song’.

KaRoSal originally met and sang together in The Galway Gospel Choir and at various singing sessions around the city. Discovering how well their voices worked together, they joined forces in 2018.

Last year they released their debut EP, Songs In 3-Part Harmony, which included KaRoSal’s renditions of numbers by Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Paul Simon, as well as an original track, ‘Tears of Stone’, written by Moycullen songwriter Seán McGrath.

KaRoSal have played shows in Monroe’s Live and The Loft, and been featured on Irish community radio in Canada.

The Loft gig will not be KaRoSal’s only Galway summer festival appearance, as they also play
the Dunmore 50th Annual Festival on Saturday August 10th at 8pm, in Dunmore Town Hall, where they will be joined by The Frenchville Brass Ensemble.

KaRoSal play The Loft at Seven on Tuesday July 16th. Support is from Galway singer-songwriter and visual artist, Aoife Welby. Tickets are €12 and are available on Eventbrite.
