Fulacht Fia 2025 Serves Up Sunshine, Gaeilge agus Cairdeas in The Ardilaun Hotel Gardens

The beautiful gardens of The Ardilaun Hotel were the setting for Fulacht Fia Chairde Ghaillimh le Gaeilge which took place on the one of the warmest days of the year!

The Fulacht Fia was kindly sponsored by Cairde Ghaillimh le Gaeilge: Stewart Construction, Galway Executive Skillnet, and KD Autoparts.

Guests soaked up the laid-back summer atmosphere with delicious BBQ food, lively bilingual networking, as well as great music from the brilliant Mike Stewart, Maria Fahy and Fergal Ó Conaire.

Mayor of the City of Galway, Cllr. Peter Keane, spoke at the event, sharing how Galway City Council is proud to support the Irish language through its work with Gaillimh le Gaeilge.

"Mar Mhéara Chathair na Gaillimhe, tá an-áthas orm go bhfuil an Comhairle Cathrach ag cur maoiniú de €50,000 ar fáil i mbliana, tríd an scéim nua maoinithe CAIRDE." The Mayor also acknowledged Galway’s unique connection with the Irish language, saying; "We are uniquely privileged here in Galway City to have the Gaeltacht on our doorstep, and indeed parts of Galway City itself lie within the Gaeltacht. This close connection gives Gaillimh a special place in the story of the Irish language, and it should always be at the heart of what we do as a city."

Bríd Ní Chonghóile, Príomhfheidhmeannach Ghaillimh le Gaeilge, warmly welcomed everyone to the event, including Cairde Ghaillimh le Gaeilge, sponsors, and elected members of Galway City Council. She extended her sincere thanks to the organisation’s main funders, An Roinn Forbartha Tuaithe, Pobail agus Gaeltachta, who provide vital support through the National Lottery. Bríd was also delighted to share that Gaillimh le Gaeilge was recently announced as a County finalist in the National Lottery Good Causes Awards 2025. She spoke about the importance of Galway’s Gaeltacht Service Town status, highlighting its role in encouraging the everyday use of Irish and strengthening the city’s connection with the surrounding Gaeltacht communities.

The Fulacht Fia wraps up Gaillimh le Gaeilge’s bilingual networking events for the summer – but there are still plenty of ways to connect and brush up on your Irish with Aon Scéal, taking place every Wednesday at 7pm in the Harbour Hotel until the end of July.

Follow Gaillimh le Gaeilge on social media for the latest event updates.

Looking ahead, Gaillimh le Gaeilge continues to provide its bilingual services throughout the summer and is currently preparing for the Tonnta Festival, Galway’s Bilingual Festival taking place from 29 January to 1 February 2026.

Gaillimh le Gaeilge wishes to extend a míle buíochas ó chroí to everyone who joined them for this year’s Fulacht Fia, with special thanks to their sponsors and the staff of the Ardilaun Hotel for their céad míle fáilte. To all our Cairde members and supporters – buíochas ó chroí. Ní neart go cur le chéile.
