Martin Doyle in conversation with Tomás Kenny at Kennys Bookshop

Martin Doyle, Books Editor of The Irish Times, will be in Kennys Bookshop on Friday the 3rd of November to join Tomás Kenny in conversation about his new book, Dirty Linen: The Troubles in My Home Place. This event is free but ticketed, as space is limited.

A discussion on Martin’s new book, Dirty Linen: The Troubles in My Home Place – an intimate history of the Troubles through a single parish.

Doyle grew up during The Troubles, and Dirty Linen is a personal, intimate history of this period seen through the microcosm of a single rural parish, the author’s own – Tullylish in Co. Down, which is part of both the Linen Triangle – heartland of the North’s defining industry – and the Murder Triangle – the Badlands devastated by paramilitary violence.

In the book, Doyle lifts the veil of silence drawn over the horrors of the past, recording in heartrending detail the terrible toll the conflict took and the long tail of trauma it has left behind. It is published on October 19th.

Martin Doyle is the Books Editor of The Irish Times. A former Editor of the Irish Post, he has worked in journalism for over three decades and is a regular contributor to the media and arts programming.
