Aengus Hackett Trio at An Taibhdhearc

Tá clú ar Aengus Hackett, an giotáraí Gaillimheach agus an cumadóir snagcheoil, i measc snagcheoilteoirí na hÉireann le blianta fada anuas. Cuirtear béim ar a gcuid cáilíochta sa chéad albam atá aige, ina bhfuil beirt de na tobhchumadóirí is fearr sa tír ann, siad sin Dererk Whyte (dord/bass) agus Matthew Jacobson (drumaí). Eatarthu d’oibrigh an triúr seo le healaíontóirí mór le rá idirnáisiúnta ar nós Kit Downes (UK), Ralph Alessi (US), Sanem Kalfa (TUR), agus daoine mór le rá Éireannacha ar nós Mile Nielsen, Conor Guilfoyle, Ensemble Ériu agus Dirty Jaz Club.

Measctar gnéithe don snagcheol, rac-cheol agus electronica le chéile sna hamhráin. Tugann an grúpa seo aghaidh ar an gcumadóireacht ar bealach atá bríomhar agus lán de saoirse.

Ar an oíche, seolfaidh an banna a n’albam nua le ceolchoirm iomlán.

Bí ag súil le ceol spleodrach lán le groove and séis, gan aon ghanntanas iontas.

Galway jazz guitarist and composer Aengus Hackett has honed his creative voice for many years in collaborations with the cream of Ireland’s jazz scene. This is brought to the fore in his debut trio album featuring two of the country’s finest improvisers, Derek Whyte (bass) and Matthew Jacobson (drums). Between them these three seasoned performers have worked with leading international artists such as Kit Downes (UK), Ralph Alessi (US), Sanem Kalfa (TUR), and Irish stalwarts such as Mike Nielsen, Conor Guilfoyle, Ensemble Ériu and Dirty Jazz Club.

Drawing on his diverse influences, Hackett’s music combines elements of jazz, rock and electronica. With their collective experience as improvisers, this group approaches Hackett’s melodic compositions with a freedom which is invigorating.

This allows the music to go wherever it wishes – gentle and lyrical, rhythmic and energetic, and when they take the leash off, in a word…wild.

On the night, the band will launch their new album with a full concert.

Expect thrilling music full of groove and melody, with no shortage of surprises.
