The Mixed Bill shows at Galway Comedy Festival (21st - 27th October) are back in 2025. Afternoon, evening, one venue or many, the Mixed Bills are the best way to see as close to #GCF25’s 70-strong line-up as is humanly possible. Check out what's on right here...
What’s better than one comedian on stage performing a solo show? - Several comedians appearing on stage, one after the other, across an entire night of comedy.
Always a smörgåsbord of rising stars, big names, and comedic delights, these shows give audiences an opportunity to see a favourite comedian and discover the comic they never knew they needed. And if one particular act doesn’t float your boat, don’t worry, another will be along in 20 minutes or so who will.
#GCF25’s opening mixed bill, at the Festival’s new HQ of Pálás Cinema, is a heavy hitter and sets the standard for the week of fun ahead, with Dylan Moran, rising star Aoife Dunne, Aideen McQueen, and the great Karl Spain as host. Little wonder this show is already sold out! Take this as your sign to not miss out on enjoying these other line-ups.
The Black Box Theatre hosts three high calibre mixed bills (7pm, Wed 22 / Sat 25 / Sun 26 Oct), bursting at the seams with Irish and international comedy titans including Deirdre O’Kane, Rich Hall, Al Porter, Emma Doran, Barry Murphy, Danny O’Brien, Andrew Maxwell, to name but a few who will grace the stage through the week.
Returning to Pálás, top quality comedy in the plush surroundings of the venue’s three cinemas is the order of the (night and) day, beginning with a celebration of Irish women comics in High Queens of Irish Comedy (Wednesday 22nd Oct, 7.30pm), boasting Emma Doran, Aideen McQueen, and Sophia Wren. Similarly, and in time for Halloween, Anna Clifford hosts her Comedy For Witches night, featuring numerous female comics (4pm, Monday 27th October).
Mixed Bills give audiences a chance to see established names and discover the latest comedic voices. Full of Mullarkey, hosted by Galway’s own Eddie Mullarkey, meets that demand. Between Thursday 23rd Oct and Sunday 26th Oct, Glenn Wool, Thom Rhodes, John Colleary, Aaron Berg, and Kevin Gildea can be enjoyed alongside Jess Collins, Ronan Clancy, Chris McShane, and others.
#GCF25 isn’t just a nighttime experience, it’s a daytime event as well with the Laughternoon Delights (2.30pm, Saturday 25th Oct, Sunday 26th Oct). Fuelled by that spirit of mixing experienced and emerging talent, these indulgent afternoons of fun feature Danny O’Brien, Glenn Wool, and Paddy McDonnell, alongside the rising young generation of Irish comics like Sinead Quinlan and Shawn Uyosa, and others.
Possibly the greatest mixed bill shows of all #GCF25 are the Late Night KARLnivals, which make Pálás its new home in 2025 (10.30pm, Wednesday 22nd - Sunday 26th Oct). The joy of these nights is seeing major names in comedy up close, personal, and off the leash, and while you’ll have some idea of who will turn up on the night, you’re never certain of just who might unexpectedly appear, so just expect to be delightfully surprised.
Pálás also hosts the mixed bill of all mixed bills, the Festival Closing Gala (Monday 27th Oct, 8pm). With Karl Spain as MC, this is a night to catch that major comedian you might have missed, or simply want to see again, and get to witness some of the intriguing names you’ve been curious about all #GCF25.
A more intimate kind of mixed bill can be found at Tigh He-He Comedy Club, upstairs in Róisín Dubh (23rd-26th Oct), featuring Geordie comic Kai Humphries, Dutch comic Diederik Zuurmond, and a wealth of Irish comics in Bernard Casey, Ian Coppinger, Sharon Mannion, and Sophia Wren, to name but a few.
A very different kind of multi-comedian event are the Comedy Club Crawls (Thursday 24th, Friday 25th Oct), a magical mystery tour across Galway city centre, combining all the fun of a comedy club with the craic of a pub crawl, with an array of different comedians at each venue to suit all tastes!
