Expression of Interest: Activating Underused Spaces in Galway By Night

The focus of this initiative is to connect businesses with available spaces to artists, cultural organisations, programmers and community groups who are in need of space to host activity. It is intended as a collaborative approach that supports the activation of under‑utilised spaces, helping to drive revenue, visibility and footfall for businesses, while also allowing the arts, cultural and events sector to flourish across a wider range of commercial settings. The aim is to create opportunities that are commercially viable and mutually beneficial.

This Expression of Interest (EOI) is an information‑gathering exercise, not a funding call. Its purpose is to:

- Identify potential spaces that could host social, cultural, creative or community activity in the evening and night‑time
- Understand what facilities and conditions businesses can offer
- Identify what supports may be required
- Enable Galway City Council to match suitable spaces with appropriate programmers, creative practitioners and community groups

The information gathered through this process will support the development of a pilot programme to activate selected venues as part of Galway City’s Night‑Time Economy Programme.

By participating in this EOI, businesses are not committing to host activity but are indicating an openness to exploring how their space might be used as part of a structured, well‑managed and collaborative approach to night‑time activation.
