This mature 18-hole parkland course blends scenic beauty, rich history, and an enjoyable test of golf that rewards accuracy over power. Measuring 5,644 yards from the white tees, the course layout keeps things interesting from start to finish. Keep the ball in play and you’ll be rewarded with short irons into greens. The front nine features a challenging mix of par 3s and tight par 4s that can test even low handicappers, while the back nine opens up a little with scoring chances on the par 5s.

Steeped in history, the course is set within the former Deer Park of the Mountbellew Demesne, established in 1684. Historic features remain throughout the layout, including the original Deer Park Gate and the limestone quarry that comes into play on the 18th hole.

Visitors are welcome seven days a week, with green fees from just €25 and Open Friday competitions running from April to September for only €20. Visit mountbellewgolfclub.ie for more information. After your round, enjoy a warm clubhouse welcome and a well-earned pint of Guinness. They say the Guinness here is as good as the golf!

When you’re not on the course, take time to explore the surrounding Grattan Estate forest walks and picnic areas, visit the old forge museum, or enjoy the welcoming pubs, cafés, and restaurants in nearby Mountbellew town. Nearby, Carrownagappul Bog, Galway's Living Bog, offers visitors the chance to experience one of Ireland's largest and most accessible active raised bogs, with restored boardwalks and walking trails that showcase its unique landscape.
