Youth Lates presents: Infared

Youth Lates offers a safe and engaging space to enjoy live music and participate in Galway’s vibrant night-time economy. Get to know Infared, one of the brilliant young Galway bands playing at the April Youth Lates event...

Introduce yourselves...
We're Infared, we're a 4 piece post-grunge band based in Galway! Our members are Jay (Vocalist), Levi (Guitarist), Ashley (Bassist) and Aiden (Drummer). Jay and Levi started the band back in January 2024. We've played a decent amount of gigs now in different counties and we have more coming up that we're really hyped about!

Describe your music...
We write very post-grunge music with hints of indie inspiration from the likes of Paramore. We believe we have our own very own unique style and sound.

Who are your heroes?
We are very inspired by well known bands such as Nirvana and Green Day, but we also take inspiration from bands such as Paramore because of their high energy and female vocalist. Our biggest inspiration is definitely a band called The Jins, they have a very indie grunge sound with dark elements and we have a similar sound and style.

Tell us about your experience with Music Generation Galway City...
This band wouldn't be what it is if it wasn't for Music Generation. When Levi and Jay first started this band, our first gig was Livefeed in Athenry, organised by Music Generation. There, we met our bassist Ashley. We played a few more gigs such a Livefeeds in Dunmore, Ballinasloe, Ballybane etc and we became more well-known around Galway. Then we played the Youth Lates in October and had a blast! We have nothing negative to say about Music Generation, we have only had amazing experiences with them!

Are you excited for Youth Lates?
We're incredibly excited for the SOLD OUT Youth Lates on April 25th! Bands that we're friends with such as Black Water and TÈN.FM are making their debuts and performing, and we can not wait to see them perform and hype them up! Youth Lates definitely built a lot of confidence in our band, the crowd is always amazing and everyone hypes each other up and socialises. Its great that Galway has such an event tailored to young people our age. We hope Youth Lates continues for as long as it can as some of the best experiences we have are because of Youth Lates.

What are your goals for the future?
We want to release and record music, be big, and make it. We want people to say "I knew them before they were big" and have our songs known by people. Hopefully over the summer we'll do some more gigging and start recording and releasing music, but for the time being, we're gonna keep gigging and building a name for ourselves.

What do you love most about Galway?
Galway is such a lively city, especially music wise. You always see buskers on Shop Streets, gigs and events going on all around Galway and different people with all sorts of different styles and personalities, but the thing we love most about Galway are the people. Everywhere we turn there's a friend, a smiling face. Galway brings the community together, its not just a place to live in, but a place to live!
