Play Reading of Excerpts of Checkpoints at Town Hall Bar

A New Play by Aoibheann McCann

“The trapdoor to hell still precedes my every counted step”

Using flashback techniques and an eclectic set list, ranging from biblical hymns to heavy metal, Aoibheann investigates how her unique lived experiences of having OCD and being reared on the Donegal/Derry border during The Troubles in the 70s and 80s made her the woman that she is today.

NoRopes Theatre Company invites Galway audiences to come witness snapshots of Aoibheann’s life as part of Culture Night 2025. Excerpts of CHECKPOINTS by Aoibheann McCann will also be performed by Aoibheann McCann. Directed by Mairéad Folan. Little John Nee as Dramaturge and Peter Mannion as Sound Design. This will be the second time that NoRopes has collaborated with Aoibheann. Mairéad states that Aoibheann’s poignant and witty voice continues to challenge the boundaries misrepresented issues can impose while Aoibheann describes working with No Ropes as enjoyable: “I have found their working practice supports and enhances my creativity overall”.

A Q&A chaired by OCD Ireland will follow the reading.
