Corrib Beo Talk: Reconnecting Land and Sea at Galway City Museum

Corrib Beo, in collaboration with Galway City Museum, are delighted to announce the details of the fifth talk in the 2026 Museum Talks Series. They are delighted to welcome Hilda O’Grady, a Program Manager working with Cuan Beo, to give a comprehensive talk titled “Reconnecting Land and Sea” at the Galway City Museum.

Join them to explore the story of Cuan Beo — from its beginnings in 2017 to the growing organisation it is today. Discover their mission of “Reconnecting Land and Sea” and hear how science, community, and collaboration have shaped their work across three key pillars:
Native Oyster Restoration
Education & Outreach
Policy & Political Engagement

The talk will share their journey so far, the challenges and successes along the way, and their vision and ambitions for the future of Catchment 29, which spans from Rinville Point to Black Head in Clare. At the heart of it all is a simple idea: restoring our coastal ecosystems by bringing people and nature together on environmental, economic, social and heritage fronts. We’d love you to join us for an hour in the Galway City Museum, Hilda’s talk will be followed by a Questions and Answers Session.

Speaker Bio:
Since relocating to Kinvara, Co. Galway, over the past decade, Hilda O’Grady has been actively involved in community development through volunteering, initially with the Burren Business Network and more recently with Kinvara Tidy Towns and multi community development groups. Combined with her professional background in project management, change management, environmental management systems and HR, these experiences have shaped her expertise in collaboration, programme management
stakeholder engagement and leadership. Living at the foothills of the Burren and along the shores of Galway Bay in Kinvara, a rural coastal community, has inspired Hilda’s strong commitment to protecting the natural environment. She is passionate about the conservation of habitats on land and marine biodiversity, promoting a love of place and about supporting the ecological, social, and economic value of the unique coastal catchment area from South Galway to North Clare—including the livelihoods, recreation, and wellbeing our unique coastal location provides.
