Tiny Traders Market extends Friday evening hours for Family Fun

Tiny Traders Market is excited to announce the extension of the market's Friday hours from 6pm to 8pm at Spanish Arch in Galway City for a three-month pilot running from June to August!

This initiative was born out of the Galway City Council Night-Time Economy public consultation which identified a high demand for an evening and night market and a greater diversity in the range of evening activities.

Relocating to the iconic Spanish Arch for the summer (returning to Eyre Square in autumn), the market—ordinarily open until 6pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays—already boasts bustling marketplace featuring local artisans, crafters, foodies, and more. The extended hours every Friday will feature a programme designed to celebrate Galway's rich market history and foster a lively atmosphere for locals and visitors alike.

"We're thrilled to extend our hours and create a space where families and friends can come together on a Friday evening," said Paul Murphy, Director of Tiny Traders Market. We're not just about buying and selling; it's about fostering a sense of community and celebrating Galway's vibrant evening and night-time culture."

"Summer Evenings at Spanish Arch is an opportunity to showcase Galway's creativity and community spirit," said Kate Howard, Galway City Council Night Time Economy Advisor. Adding that "this pilot initiative will play a role in expanding Galway’s culturally rich evening and night-time economy, supporting our local artists, traders, makers, and performers while enhancing Galway's appeal as a night-time destination."

The initiative will be closely monitored and evaluated to assess its impact on the local community, economy, and cultural scene. These findings will inform the development of future Evening and Night-Markets.

This initiative is part of Galway City Council's ongoing commitment to enhancing the city's Night-Time Economy, offering diverse activities. By combining cultural activities and a bustling market atmosphere, Summer Evenings at Spanish Arch aims to create a memorable experience for all who attend.
