Our guide will meet all walkers in the Hotel Lounge at 10am each morning prior to departing for the start of each walk. Own transport is required.
Day 1: Hike Cleggan Head: Tuesday’s adventure takes you on a relaxed, scenic hike around Cleggan Head, where rolling farmland meets the dramatic Atlantic coast. On clear days, spot sweeping views of the Twelve Bens, Inishbofin Island, and the endless ocean beyond.. Learn about the region’s geology, wildlife, and maritime lore from your local guide as you walk through one of Connemara’s most striking headlands. This walk covers approximately 8km, is rated easy to moderate, and takes around 3 hours to complete.
Day 2: Discover the Charm of Inishbofin: Step onto the ferry at Cleggan Harbour and cross the water to the captivating island of Inishbofin, where time seems to stand still. Wander through its rugged coastlines, sandy beaches, and ancient ruins. Experience the unique flora and fauna that call this island home and learn about its fascinating history on the Westquarter Loop from our knowledgeable guide. Covering a distance of 9 kilometers, this looped walk is moderate in difficulty, and takes up to 3 hours. Return Ferry is included.
Day 3: Explore the Inagh Valley and Mamean: Thursday’s hike explores the scenic Inagh Valley and the historic Máméan Pass, one of Connemara’s most atmospheric routes. The walk begins on gentle valley tracks surrounded by the Twelve Bens and Maumturk Mountains, following lakeshores and open moorland before gradually ascending to the mountain pass. At Máméan, walkers can visit St. Patrick’s Well, a small chapel, and stone stations marking the traditional pilgrimage route. The area offers panoramic views across Connemara’s uplands and valleys, making it a rewarding walk for those interested in both natural and cultural heritage. This walk covers approximately 8km, is rated moderate, and takes around 4 hours to complete.
We recommend all walkers come equipped with suitable hiking boots and all-weather gear.
On returning from your walks you can relax in our Leisure Centre or book a treatment in Renew Spa before enjoying live music each evening and the best of local cuisine in the Carriage Restaurant or cosy Signal Bar and Restaurant.
