New Chapter as Olive Tree Kitchen opens at Wildlands

The next chapter of the Wildlands adventure begins with the opening of Olive Tree Kitchen and the launch of a delicious and hearty takeout menu which has something for everyone

Staying Calm and Carrying On during these challenging times, the Olive Tree Kitchen will have its grand opening on Friday 23rd of October, offering takeout food and drink for the people of Moycullen. This beautiful new café and restaurant is located in a striking, light-filled space centred around an original Napoli Firebrick Pizza oven and, as the name suggests, an Olive Tree! It offers wholesome, freshly prepared dishes which are ideal for takeout or casual dining for all ages, tastes and dietary requirements.

Olive Tree Kitchen

Combining a delicious pizza menu, a selection of hot dishes, sandwiches, salads, sweet treats and bakery options, alongside a dedicated children’s menu, the Olive Tree Kitchen will open weekly Thursday to Sunday from 9.30am to 8pm for takeout in compliance with the current government guidelines. Wildlands and the Olive Tree Kitchen have each received the Fáilte Ireland Covid-19 Safety Charter Certificates so you can enjoy their tasty food, safe in the knowledge that their hygiene and safety standards are top-notch.

The menu uses locally sourced ingredients, along with veggies picked from the vegetable garden on site every day. Under the creative eyes of a talented team of chefs led by Head Chef, Richard Casburn, the Olive Tree Kitchen will offer customers honest, fresh, nutritious food which will ignite taste buds and nourish the body and mind.

Richard has years of experience in delivering the highest quality food and is ably assisted by Theo, his long-standing sous-chef and pastry chef and baker Marek, who joins the team from the award-winning Corrib House Tea Rooms in Galway city, a sister business of Wildlands.

Olive Tree Kitchen Pizza

The signature pizzas are prepared to order from a Firebrick oven, handcrafted in Naples. The dough is handmade in house daily, proved for 48 hours using the timeless methods of traditional Italian pizza makers, and topped with the finest, freshest local ingredients. Other options include traditional homemade fish and chips, chicken and sweet potato curry, homemade chicken goujons, Richard’s daily roast and much more. Lunch options also include healthy sandwiches on house firebrick ciabatta or treacle bread, together with salad and vegan options. Freshly baked daily treats are the perfect pick me up after a forest walk, washed down with a delicious coffee from award-winning Irish Supplier Fixx. Wildlands offers ample car parking for ease of takeout collection.

When it is eventually safe to do so, customers can look forward to enjoying the spacious interior of the Olive Tree Kitchen, with its rustic Italian style taking full advantage of the breath-taking grounds and impressive Zip ‘n’ Trek course overhead.

Wildlands was opened in August 2020 amid the current pandemic by the local Moycullen brother and sister duo, David and Faye Bohan. “We believe we have something special here and the excellent feedback and positivity to date from our customers of all ages has been hugely motivating to us in the opening of the Olive Tree Kitchen,” says David and Faye Bohan. “We’re in extraordinary times and it’s important to remain positive and move forward - hence our decision to continue with our plans for The Olive Tree Kitchen even if limited to takeout for now. We are excited and ready to deliver an authentic and honest food experience here in Ballyquirke.”
