Liv Vintage Studio and the Community behind the Cloth in Galway

The rails of designer vintage clothing are wall-to-wall at Liv Vintage Studio in Galway. On a sunny day, light seeps in through the windows, and warms the mid-century modern interior. The furniture is chic, the atmosphere is magical and the ethos is powerful. All curated from studio owner Olivia’s (aka Liv’s) personal collection of bits and pieces, Liv Vintage Studio is more than just a stunning vintage space, it's a community of creativity and authenticity in the heart of Galway City.

With a resounding desire to build up a community in Galway, Liv has focused this directly into the studio to create the space we know and love today. One year in, Liv Vintage Studio is changing the way we interact with clothes, as well as one another.

“I want to explain why I’m obsessed with building this community,” says Liv. “It’s not about me, or anything when it comes to community. It’s not an individualistic approach at all.” With a background in psychology and marketing, Liv channels her expertise into the studio offering one-to-one styling sessions with her collection of vintage clothes. “A lot of the time, some of the best moments and the best photographs, the best memories, the best feelings, have been just playing with clothes. It’s more than having a bestie pick your clothes… you get to be seen.”

Armed with her impressive background in the world of fashion as a stylist for Max Mara, a manager at Brown Thomas as well as studying adaptable fashion design in Berlin, Liv is by all means an expert when it comes to styling. “Before I was a mam I worked in fashion… Now I'm back with a marketing plan to launch my own brand. In the meantime I work on styling for photo shoots, content creation and working one to one with clients on their wardrobe… it seems like I’m reinventing myself in my 40s but actually I’m going back to what I was working towards before I became a mam.”

As well as offering styling services, Liv Vintage Studio is open to the public for events, creative projects and everything in between. The studio has honed in on something truly special encapsulated in Galway’s culture: a vibrant desire for people to come together and create with and support one another. Liv shares, “I’ve got that old lady cringe going on but I’m okay to be cringe. It’s unmasked, authentic and it’s way more fun to just be yourself and at my age - be it unapologetically.”

If you’re interested in booking in with Liv to discover the world of creativity unlocked with clothes you can find the studio at 3 Cross Street Lower in the Latin Quarter. “You get to see what it’s like to play with clothes! Working with a stylist is like working with a bestie, it’s next level.”

This February to celebrate 1 year open, Liv Vintage Studio has an incredible lineup of events planned for the entire first week of the month. “We’re going to have men’s styling, we have a shop coming from Dublin that specialises in plus sized clothes, we have a queer day, and a Celtic Mother’s Day.” With all the exciting events we’re getting ready for in 2025, Liv Vintage is the community space we’ve needed.

Liv shares, “Part of community is that you can take and give, be loyal, and build support. Give it today, take it tomorrow. In the past, it would have been a community in a village, tribe, or religion. And now it's a collection of clothes!”
