Listen to La Orquesta Kalamares: Latin Music with Galway Soul

A small band with a big sound, La Orquesta Kalamares are a Galway band that embrace the area's Latin influence and global appeal. You should listen to them...

Astonishingly, La Orquesta Kalamares celebrate their 10th year anniversary this year, an incredible achievement in the music industry! The trio sprung up from the fertile music ground of Galway in 2013, with the idea to create a "recession-proof" band, producing the sound of a full Salsa orchestra with only three musicians. Combining great artistic skills with incredible musical creativity, Barbara Vulso (vocals), Alan Preims (percussion), and Eanna Ryder (keys) bring a unique blend of original Latin songs and original Latin arrangements of well known songs, to the delight of dancers and music enthusiasts alike.

The trio has played high profile events and festivals since their formation, including Doonbeg Jazz Festival, Cairde Sligo Arts Festival. They were also the first band ever to perform at Ireland’s international Salsa Congress in Maynooth! In the last year, the band has stretched out their tentacles, and started bringing their show outside of Ireland to much acclaim and plenty of dancing.

You can see La Orquesta Kalamares perform every week in Monroe’s Taverns, at the famous Wednesday Latino Nights - Ireland’s longest lasting and most successful Latin Music night - so make sure you strut on down some Wednesday evening for some truly heart-warming music that will put a pep in your step! Viva La Orquesta Kalamares...
