Additions to the popular, very hands-on, one-day classes include Spanish Fish and Shellfish Cooking, Italian Vegan and Vegetarian, An Introduction to Greek Cooking, and Wild Irish Food (Preserving, Fermenting, and Foraging). From mastering Basque tapas to exploring nose-to-tail cooking and reimagining modern Irish classics, the schedule invites home cooks and food enthusiasts to expand their skills and creativity under the guidance of one of Ireland’s leading chefs.
Open to all skill levels, from seasoned home cooks to complete beginners, Jp tailors his teaching to each participant's experience and curiosity. In the one-day workshops, participants enjoy a mix of demonstrations and hands-on cooking, building both confidence and creativity in the kitchen. Classes are limited to 7 participants and will take place in the kitchen of Aniar.
Owner and Chef Patron of Aniar, Jp McMahon, says, “Aniar’s cooking class schedule for 2026 is about exploration. Of Ireland, yes, but also of the wider world. From Spanish seafood to Greek comfort dishes, from Japanese ramen to Italian regional cooking, we want to give people the confidence to cook beyond borders, to transcend the walls of their own kitchen. These new classes sit alongside our favourites, creating a space where tradition meets curiosity and inspiration. Whether you’re learning to bake soda bread or roll handmade pasta, Aniar is about understanding flavour, technique, and the stories that shape great food.”
Jp creates a welcoming and inspiring environment for anyone eager to explore the foundations of good cooking or delve deeper into a cuisine they love. With over 15 years of teaching experience, he brings the same passion found in his Michelin-starred kitchen to every class, championing food provenance and better eating.
The class begins with a morning introduction to the kitchen, where participants learn the layout, essential tools, and professional kitchen practices, while Jp shares anecdotes and insights from his years of culinary experience. Each guest receives an Aniar apron to wear during the class, which they take home as a memento of the day.
At lunchtime, participants gather around the table to enjoy the dishes they’ve prepared together, accompanied by a glass of wine. After returning to the kitchen for the afternoon session, the day concludes once again around the table, sharing and savouring the creations made during the afternoon, making for a relaxed, rewarding, and thoroughly enjoyable culinary experience.
The perfect gift for the curious or aspiring chef this Christmas, Aniar Boutique Cookery School offers full-day classes on Sundays from 10am to 5.30pm, priced at €325.
