A Pop-Up Food and Craft Fair with a difference will take place at Galway County Council’s Offices on Prospect Hill to mark Seachtain na Gaeilge and Local Enterprise Week (LEW). Organised by Local Enterprise Office (LEO) Galway, the three-day event will run from March 2nd to 4th, bringing together talented local makers, food producers, and crafters from across Galway. It will highlight the richness of the county’s creative community and the vibrancy of the Irish language.
Galway is well known for the remarkable skill, innovation and diversity within the local food and craft community. Visitors will have the opportunity to browse a wide range of handmade and Irish-produced goods, meet the makers behind the businesses, and support homegrown enterprise, all in a welcoming and bilingual environment.
The line‑up will feature an exciting mix of popular and emerging creators, including Wild Irish Kin – a modern Irish design brand that brings native wildlife and heritage to life through beautifully detailed home and garden décor, and giftware. An Siopa Beag will be there with sustainable eco resin homewares and hand knitted items, while Gráinne Mullins of Grá Chocolates will present her luxury and award-winning artisan chocolate. Renowned Irish herbal medicine brand, Dr Clare, will have gift hampers available, with a variety of tea infusions, tincture blends, cosmetic creams, capsules for specific themes, and more.
Founded by chef Diarmuid Ó Mathúna, Pota Café will have a presence too, with a strong emphasis on local, seasonal and organic ingredients, drawing from an impressive network of nearby producers. Those with a sweet tooth can look forward to visiting Man of Aran Fudge for some traditional creamy, buttery fudge inspired by founder Tomás Póil’s childhood on Inis Oírr.
Flos Farm Flowers, who specialise in creating beautiful, handcrafted bouquets and bespoke arrangements for every occasion, will have a stall at the Fair, while Galway Fairytales will bring their magical children’s books, featuring Irish culture, engaging illustrations, and discussion prompts for families and educators, promoting imagination and positive values for young readers.
Known for its colourful fibre art, Rudaí Óla will offer rainbow wall hangings, macrame items, magnets, keyrings, bonnets, prints, cards and tote bags, while Connemara-based Sliabh Candles will be selling their hand‑poured soy wax candles and melts. Craughwell-based craft producer Sean Mahony will bring along his handcrafted clocks and mirrors, designed using native windfall woods.
There’ll be food too, with Délice Keady offering pancakes and crepes, while Kieran Moran will be there with Chipeen. From artisan foods and luxury treats to handcrafted accessories, storytelling gifts and botanical creations, the fair offers something for all tastes and ages.
Head of Enterprise at LEO Galway, Caroline McDonagh, said this will be a Pop-Up Food and Craft Fair, with a difference.
“Proudly celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge and LEW, all stand‑holders will be able to engage with customers through Irish throughout the three-day event. Based in the Foyer of Galway County Council’s offices on Prospect Hill, we will create a welcoming space that encourages the use of the language, while also highlighting the cultural heritage that inspires so many local producers. The Fair will offer a unique opportunity to shop local, celebrate creativity and enjoy the vibrant entrepreneurial spirit that thrives in Galway,” she said.
