KATS Reveal Play for December Supper Theatre Shows

The KATS annual Supper Theatre Show revives a classic Irish play as Knocknacarra Amateur Theatre Society return to Galway Bay Hotel from 3rd-5th of December. Find out more here...

The dull routine of a seaside town is plunged into chaos and controversy when an ambitious theatre company arrives, determined to improve the minds of the townspeople.

This is Drama at Inish, the classic 1933 farce by Irish playwright Lennox Robinson, which the Knocknacarra Amateur Theatre Society will perform for its annual supper theatre shows at the Galway Bay Hotel from Tuesday 3rd to Thursday 5th of December.

Directed by Pat Lally, Drama at Inish sees a sleepy seaside resort turned upside down when a repertory company, led by husband and wife team The De la Mares, takes over the local theatre for a season.

The company’s productions of dark, psychologically introspective plays by Chekov, Strindberg, and Ibsen attract sold-out performances but unleash all manner of collective neuroses, complexes and inhibitions in the local townspeople. Acts of criminality, disturbances, and passion break out, while a production of Ibsen’s An Enemy Of The People prompts the local TD to get rebellious!

The De la Mares are getting the blame for it all and the whole situation is attracting the wrong kind of attention from journalists in Dublin. This is more drama than Inish had bargained for.

Chaos for the De la Mares and the townsfolk. Great comedy, drama, and food for audiences. What more could you ask for?

Doors are at 7.30pm. Show starts at 8pm. Buffet-style meal will be served after the play’s first act. Tickets are €30 + €2.50 booking fee and are available via https://www.gr8events.ie/KATSsuppertheatre
