Going Coastal is proud to be supported by the Galway City Council Arts Office, whose commitment to nurturing the arts allows us to bring together and support artists, promoters, photographers, and industry professionals. By providing platforms for people to perform, showcase their work, and connect with audiences and peers, the festival helps build a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable music scene that amplifies artistic voices and strengthens Galway’s cultural community. This partnership enables us to foster collaboration, highlight local talent, and create meaningful experiences that enrich the city’s cultural life.
Going Coastal has been supported by Flirt FM 101.3, Galway’s student and community radio station, from the very beginning. Based at the University of Galway and on air since 1995, Flirt FM provides a platform for diverse voices and alternative music, and we are grateful for their continued partnership.
Going Coastal is made possible through the generous support of our venues - Róisín Dubh, Massimo, The Blue Note, and Club Áras na nGael - as well as the wider business and social network of Galway’s Westend.
CURATORS
A MODERN MOVEMENT
A Modern Movement (AMM) is a Galway-based booking and promotions company dedicated to supporting both emerging talent and established but under-the-radar acts across the Irish music scene.
SHARK SCHOOL
Shark School are a female-fronted abstract garage band based in Galway City, delivering a sonic assault with more bite than a Great White’s teeth. Since forming in June 2023, they’ve quickly made a name for themselves with what some have called a “delightfully sideways” atmosphere. Known for their energetic sets, sarcastic wit, and party vibes, Shark School recently sold out the Róisín Dubh twice - first in the name of feminism, and most recently in the name of fish.
HANNAH HESSION
Hannah Hession is a Galway-born DJ known for her energetic mix of bass, breaks, dembow, garage, and everything in between. Hannah co-runs Ar Ais Arís, a Galway-based electronic music night dedicated to creating small, safe, inclusive spaces with big soundsystems.
SUNFLOWER SESSIONS
Sunflower Sessions is an annual fundraiser run by Siobhán Kelleher, raising money to create and send care packages to young people in inpatient treatment for eating disorders. Now in its fourth year, the initiative continues to support recovery and reduce stigma, one care package at a time.
