Galway’s Flirt FM 101.3 Turns 30 this Autumn

Sunday 28th September 2025 is officially Flirt FM's 30th birthday, so they're throwing a big party on the eve of the milestone! Celebrations will include live radio shows, a specially commissioned documentary and a party in the College Bar. Find out more here...

On Saturday the 27th of September proceedings will get underway with a drop-in live broadcast in Flirt FM Studio One, Áras na Mac Léinn, University of Galway from 12pm midday. The Flirt FM team will chat to current and ex volunteers and staff about their time at the station, and pick songs that represent their time on air.

It’s not all about the adults, if you are bringing the little ones along, they can enjoy games and craft activities from 2-4pm.

A brand new Coimisiún na Meán funded documentary Galway 95 premieres at 5pm. Not a history of Flirt FM, rather a look into what the campus and city were like when the station went on air with its first full licence. Current-day Media Students (all born after 2000) were enlisted to find out just how different (or not) things were at the tail end of the 20th Century.

Refreshments will be served to those popping in on the day, and you can listen on 101.3 FlirtFM in Galway, or from anywhere on flirtfm.ie and your smart device.

Finally, a buffet, comedy bingo and Flirt FM DJs will entertain you in Sult from 6pm. This is an opportunity for current and past volunteers, staff and friends of the station to meet, chat, reminisce and also look forward to the next 10 years at Flirt FM. Flirt FM 101.3 is Galway City's award winning Student, Community & Alternative Station, based in the University of Galway since 1995. We proudly support new Irish music, local talent and diverse voices. With four paid staff, the station is home to up to 150 volunteers annually. We're on FM 24hrs weekdays during term-time, and from morning to late night during college holidays.
