Galway’s Café Culture Gets a Night-Time Boost: Six Businesses Awarded Café Lates Funding

Galway City Council announces that six local businesses have been awarded funding as part of the "Café Lates" pilot scheme. This initiative will see participating cafés staying open past 6pm, offering cultural events and activities alongside their usual fare.

"Café Lates" is a direct response to public consultation feedback, aiming to diversify Galway's nightlife, enhance a later Café Culture and stimulate the local economy during evening hours. It's part of Galway's broader commitment to enhancing its after-6pm offerings as one of nine pilot cities nationwide actively shaping Ireland's night-time economy.

The cafés that were awarded funding as part of the "Café Lates" pilot scheme are; Cafe sa Taibhdhearc, Little Collins Cafe, Wylde Café - at Hyde Hotel, Plámás, The Creamery Café and Gourmet Food Parlour.

From live music and DJ sets to workshops, the funded cafés will be buzzing with activity. About Café Lates

"Café Lates" is a pilot grant initiative designed to foster a vibrant and diverse late-night café culture in Galway City Centre and Salthill. It encourages local cafés to trial extending opening hours through the introduction of cultural programming after 6pm.

Café Lates is funded by Galway City Council and and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
