All 3 organisations have come together to launch a heart-warming new Christmas video capturing the enchantment of Galway through the eyes of a child. The short film showcases the city’s festive spirit its twinkling lights, bustling streets, warm welcomes, and the unmistakable magic that makes Galway one of Ireland’s favourite Christmas destinations.

Told from the perspective of a child experiencing the city’s wonders, the video highlights both the emotional charm of Christmas in Galway and the vibrant range of local offerings, from independent shops to much-loved attractions, cultural moments, and festive experiences. It encourages people to shop local, explore Galway city centre, and consider Galway as the perfect setting for a festive break.

Karen Ronan, CEO, Galway Chamber, said:

“This campaign reminds us of what makes Galway so special at Christmas its warmth, its creativity, and its sense of community. Seeing the city through a child’s eyes brings that magic to life in a way that words simply cannot. We are proud to champion our local businesses and to encourage everyone to shop local, support local jobs, and experience the incredible atmosphere Galway offers at this time of year.”

Margaret Jenkins, Fáilte Ireland, said:

“Galway is one of Ireland’s most distinctive destinations, where culture, creativity, and community combine to deliver an exceptional visitor experience. This campaign highlights the city’s unique festive atmosphere, showcasing its diverse range of attractions, local businesses, and cultural moments. By positioning Galway as a leading destination for winter breaks, we aim to strengthen its profile, drive visitation, and reinforce its role as a key hub on the Wild Atlantic Way”

Caitriona Morgan, Galway City Council, said:

“Galway City Council is committed to creating a vibrant, welcoming city for residents, businesses, and visitors alike. This Christmas video celebrates the spirit of Galway, its people, its stories, and its seasonal magic. We hope it inspires families to shop local, explore the city, enjoy its attractions, and make new memories this festive season.”

A Celebration of Community and Connection

The video forms part of a wider Christmas initiative designed to boost footfall, highlight the variety of shops and attractions within the city, and support Galway’s position as a premier destination for winter breaks. The partners hope the film will resonate with audiences of all ages and serve as a reminder of the joy found in simple moments, whether it’s the sparkle of lights on Shop Street, a visit to a favourite café or restaurant, or the excitement of discovering something new in one of the many shops and attractions in the city.
