Galway City offers climate hope with September festival

Climate Inspirations Festival, running 10th-14th of September, promises a great line-up of arts and climate action to inspire and offer hope!

Galway City is set to become a beacon of climate hope and innovation this September, as the Galway Climate Inspirations Festival 2025 returns for its second year, transforming the city into a vibrant hub of ideas, action, and artistry.

Taking place September 10th–14th, the festival invites attendees from all walks of life to explore bold solutions and inspiring stories from the cutting edge of climate action. With a blend of music, talks, storytelling, play and sustainability, the event promises to be a celebration of courage and creativity in a time of change.

Galway Climate Inspirations Festival Highlights:

Talks & Panels: Hear from local and national leaders on topics such as: Irelands Response to extreme weather events, AI and Climate Action, Galway Renewable City, District Heating systems, Sustainable Festivals, the Hares Corner, Brink! Belfast and Creative Ireland climate projects.

Féasta: Join fellow foodies at St. Nicholas’s Church for an unforgettable night of delicious local food guided by chefs Enda McEvoy and Richard Kitt. Food is sourced from the community gardens in Galway City with entertainment on the night!

Climate Carnival: Taking place in Fr. Burke Park with Galway Volunteer Centre, the Climate Carnival will be home to talks, music, food, games and entertainment for all the family!

Playful Streets: Middle Street will be transformed into a vibrant, family-friendly zone with a second-hand market, and lots of music and play.

Giob Geab: Quick fire community story telling night with MC Shani.

Youth Lates: An opportunity for young people to perform and engage with climate action.

Repair Café Learn how to repair things at this workshop at Galway City Museum.

Westend Street Party with Belfast's Bang Bike DJs, Cork's Boola Boom brass and percussion techno big band, The Wild Geeze, and local DJs.

Cycle Picnic with Bang Bike DJs.

The Sounds of Climate Change: A deep sonic dive into the sounds of climate change.

Speaking about the festival, Chief Executive of Galway City Council, Leonard Cleary said; "Renowned for its rich cultural landscape and progressive spirit, Galway is uniquely placed to spark inclusive climate conversations and inspire grassroots change. This builds on last year’s festival and the city's commitment to environmental sustainability and artistic expression."

Mayor of Galway City, Cllr. Mike Cubbard said: "Last year’s festival harnessed the city’s rich cultural tapestry - encompassing theatre, music, art, sport, Gaeilge, and food - and reframed climate action as a positive and inclusive endeavour. This year’s festival promises to be even more exciting and I am looking forward to attending many of the events!"
