Sunday Night Comedy KARLnival with Phil Nichol and Paul Marsh

Get to know your comedians…
Phil Nichol – Winner of the If.comedy award (formerly the Perrier) at the 2006 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and former member of cult Canadian comedy trio Corky and the Juice Pigs, Phil Nichol is a truly unique performer. An acclaimed actor, award winning comedian, producer, presenter, writer and musician, there is no end to his talent.

Phil is an energetic and exciting performer with an unquenchable thirst to break boundaries and innovate with his work. His skill as an improviser whether it be musical, comedy or straight is unparalleled. With a surreal edge to some of his mischievous rantings, Nichol always brings something new to the stage, his keen sense of fun and eye for the shocking and absurd has cemented his position as one of the best comedians on the circuit today. Quite simply, Phil is both delightfully shocking and hilarious at the same time. Hovering between insanity and brilliance, you could power a small town from his performances. Add that to storytelling nous, stagecraft surprises and a brazen disregard for personal dignity. This is comedy at its most eye-popping, synapse-fizzing, moral majority baiting manic.

Your Host: Karl Spain – Karl has been in stand-up comedy for over twenty years. Last seen on telly hosting Laughter In The Eyre filmed at Galway Comedy Festival in 2019, Karl is probably best known in Ireland for losing a few ounces on Celebrity Operation Transformation, and his TV series Karl Spain Wants A Woman in which he not only got huge ratings but he also found himself a woman.

Support: Paul Marsh – Despite making a later in life arrival to comedy than most, Paul Marsh has made up for his late start by making a massive impact on the Irish comedy scene. Paul wasted no time and rapidly racked up winner’s trophies in some of Ireland’s premier new comedy competitions, winning both the Tedfest Toilet Duck Award 2015 and the Capital Comedy Club Competition in Dublin. Paul has since performed regularly at all the Irish comedy clubs for over 6 years as well as being a Kilkenny Cats Laughs and Galway Comedy Festival regular. Paul is now one of the most in-demand acts in Ireland and the UK.
