Le Chéile with Mary Moorkens & James Wellwood at Daróg Wine Bar

As part of Between Two Fields, join Mary Moorkens, James Wellwood, and Edel Lukács for Le Chéile: An Evening of Creative Conversation.

“Le Chéile” means “together” in Irish—and that’s exactly what these evenings at Daróg are about. A space to slow down, connect, and share stories through wine and art.

Artist Talk
On the night, Mary and James will join Edel in conversation. This guided discussion explores the artists’ practices, materials and shared connection to landscape, memory and place.

Wine Tasting
To accompany the evening, one of our sommeliers will guide you through a tasting of two glasses of wine selected to complement the evening. There’ll be time to chat, ask questions, and view (or purchase) the work in a relaxed and intimate setting.

Pop-Up Art Shop
A selection of original works & prints, will also be available to purchase on the night — a chance to pick up something special.
Guests will receive 10% off all artwork purchases made on the night.

Booking essential.

Between Two Fields
Daróg Wine Bar opens 2026 with Between Two Fields, a joint exhibition by Irish artists James Wellwood and Mary Moorkens, and the first collaborative exhibition to be held in the space.

Though working in different materials, both artists share a deep connection to the land. Wellwood’s paintings draw from lived experience on a family farm, revisiting familiar rural paths shaped by memory, time and belonging. Moorkens’ textile works use slow hand embroidery, vintage fabrics and natural processes to explore folklore, wildlife and the quieter edges of Irish fields.

Together, the exhibition sits between paint and stitch, domestic and wild, offering a thoughtful dialogue around place, memory and material.

Speaking about the exhibition, Edel Lukács of Daróg Wine Bar said: “I was drawn to both the connection and the contrast in James and Mary’s work. Each responds to nature from a different place — James through the intimacy of domestic farming, Mary through wildlife, folklore and the quieter edges of the landscape. The dialogue between paint and stitch, between permanence and fragility, creates something thoughtful and deeply human. Together, the works feel both rooted and reflective.”

Between Two Fields runs from Monday 5 January to Monday 2 March 2026 and is free to view during Daróg Wine Bar opening hours. Private viewings are available by appointment.
