Two hilarious comedies in one sitting across three nights means much-loved local theatre company KATS is bringing back its annual supper theatre performance.

Knocknacarra’s KATS presents Carrie McWethy’s Don’t Blame Me, I’m Just The Playwright and Michael J. Ginnelly’s Wake In The West at the Galway Bay Hotel’s Ballyvaughan Suite on Tuesday 9th, Wednesday 10th, and Thursday 11th December.

Don’t Blame Me, I’m Just The Playwright, by American actor, writer, comedian Carrie McWethy, is a side-splitting comedy about the troubles which arise when trying to stage a play.

Two playwrights are polishing the script of their new show ahead of its Broadway run. However, a whizkid producer brings in a team of hack writers to punch up their dialogue with fart jokes, a corporate sponsor to introduce product placement, and a diva actress with her own baggage. Can the playwrights hold on to their vision and their integrity? The play is directed by Stephen Macken.

‘Wake In The West’, by the late Mayo writer, Michael J. Ginnelly, was first staged by KATS in 2016 and is being revived as a tribute to Ginnelly, who was a great friend of the society. Tom Healy’s dying wish to be cremated and have his ashes scattered at sea causes uproar and chaos.

Between his daughter Mary’s exasperation, his son Martin’s return from America, and the well- intentioned, but disastrous involvement of locals Barney, Rose Davitt, and the village priest, the wake becomes a riot of laughter and misunderstandings, but also heart. It is directed by Pat Lally.
