GIAF + Enda Walsh presents Changing Room at The Shed, Galway Harbour on 15-28th July.

‘The world was hushed, terrified and then bored into non–existence. But inside my house I was alive to possibility — and him — and us.’

The voice of a swimmer speaks in an outdoor changing room, his clothes folded beneath the bench, his shoes placed neatly beside them, his towel hanging from its hook. The world has been pulled inside out, and sadness and fear pervade. Yet remarkably and finally, this man has started to live.

Enda Walsh’s recent work includes Medicine; the musical Sing Street; the stage adaptation of Max Porter’s book Grief is the Thing with Feathers; the musical Lazarus, written with David Bowie; The Same; and The First Child, an opera with Irish composer Donnacha Dennehy.

His screen adaptation of Claire Keegan’s Small Things Like These starring Cillian Murphy is due for release later this year. He won a Tony Award for writing the book for the musical Once.
