Galway International Arts Festival & Róisín Dubh presents Phil Taggart’s The Evolution Of Disco on July 18th, doors at 11pm.

The ‘Evolution of Disco’ is a live audio/visual DJ Set from broadcaster Phil Taggart. The Evolution of Disco charts where the genre began and its journey all the way up to the modern day. This is not a hands in the pockets history lesson, this is a joyous party experience for people who love the sounds and vibrations of disco music and want an incredible night out.

The show and DJ Set starts in the early 70’s with Rhythm and Blues, Funk and Motown and how those sounds ended up creating the classic disco sound. From there the party bus stops for a mainstream boogie with some of the biggest disco classics of the 1970’s. Expect your A. B. C’s – Abba – BeeGees – Chic. The 1980’s delivered disco funk from Prince, disco rap and a whole new synth based sound. Our 1990’s decade is where we get loose to disco’s influence on house music as well as the birth of our French disco robot overlords Daft Punk. Not to forget the 2000’s and Sophie Ellis-Bexter and Kylie.

Every generation experienced disco differently. At the ‘Evolution of Disco’, all generations come together to celebrate, dance and party to that addictive disco sound.
