Fear Less: Arts for Mental Health Campaign & Fundraising Events

For our Fear-Less ALL FOR CHARITY arts for mental health campaign, Poetry Cooperative are staging a fundraising gig and poetry live mic at the Roisin Dubh to raise funds for Jigsaw and to promote the arts as a way to cope with mental health issues.

The Poetry Cooperative – an online community of poets – in collaboration with musician Gerald Cosgrove and many others, as well as Art in Mind, Galway, is launching a drive to promote the arts as a means of maintaining good mental health. Apart from fundraising gigs with poetry live mics across the country, the Poetry Cooperative and Art in Mind Galway will publish a book of art and poetry with the proceeds going to Jigsaw and Art in Mind.

Eight poets will be selected to read out one of their poems. In line with the purpose of the event, namely to promote writing, music, and art, as a means of maintaining good mental health, they are seeking poems on the topic “Fear-Less”.

As an extension to Gerald’s project, the Poetry Cooperative and Art in Mind, Galway will issue out a call for submissions for poems and visual art. A book of poems and art with the title “Fear-Less” is to inspire people to write and engage in visual arts for mental health. The proceeds of the sale of the book will go to charity. Both Art in Mind and Jigsaw are backing the logistics of all fundraising efforts.

To submit a poem and enter as a contributor to the poetry live mic at the Roisin Dubh, please email your poem in writing or as a video to fearless@poetrycooperative.org.
