Aniar Michelin Star Restaurant in Galway's Westend

Aniar is a Michelin Starred restaurant located in Galway’s Westend. Their food comes from the specific place that is the West of Ireland. They aim to reveal the distinct and various foodstuffs that make up their particular landscape, through the farms, the wildlands and the shores that surround them. The natural course of the seasons dictates Aniar’s ever-changing and evolving menu.

The kitchen is led by Chef Patron JP McMahon. Alongside using wild and foraged local ingredients, JP likes to foster old traditional cooking and preservation methods, such as curing, pickling, smoking and fermenting. His aim is to look back in order to look forward: to the future of Irish food.

Aniar’s tasting menu is an immersive dining experience of Irish food through the ages with a contemporary filter.

Aniar also runs a Boutique Cookery School. The School offers a wide range of one-day workshops run by JP McMahon and participants enjoy a full hands-on experience followed by time to enjoy the dishes prepared with a beverage and time to chat with Jp and the group. A recent participant reflected on their experience ‘With a collaborative spirit and shared leadership style, Jp guided our small group through a hands-on apprenticeship, encouraging shared discovery rather than direct instruction.’
