Ultimately, the decision to pursue a career in hospitality and tourism depends on individual preferences, interests, and career goals. The sector offers a diverse range of opportunities and can be particularly appealing for those who enjoy working with people and creating positive experiences.

When Aoife Doherty, graduate of ATU was exploring her options, she felt that a career in Hospitality Management would be of interest to her. Aoife added, “When I chose to study Hospitality Management it was the student-lecturer ratio that appealed to me, the lecturing team at ATU are so supportive, this is unique in a university environment. During my work placements, I sampled roles in sales and also, in front office management, and ultimately, these placements led me towards my role today as Leisure Sales Executive at Lough Eske Castle.”

Aoife further added, “All the while, during my study I was preparing for a career in this industry. In my role, I attend trade shows on behalf of Lough Eske Castle and this has given me the chance to connect with people from all over the world, and has presented me with opportunities to travel. If someone asked me should I consider a career in this industry then I’d say, 100%, go for it! Lots of people left this industry following Covid, however, many people like me are returning to a career in Hospitality as the opportunities you are given are second to none and the skills you gain are incredible. Later this year, I will attend trade shows on behalf of Lough Eske Castle in the United States and the United Kingdom, all of which are incredible opportunities afforded to me for choosing a career in the Hospitality sector.”
