In Galway City during Bealtaine Festival, you can experience the unique ambiance of Dangan House Café, a beloved family-run establishment nestled within a garden centre and housed in a charming 19th-century grain store. As part of the Night-Time Economy Café Lates initiative, Dangan House Café will host two distinct evenings, further expanding the vibrant cultural offerings within the city’s night-time economy.

Cafe Lates Dangan House

A Jazz Night: Immerse yourself in an evening of soulful live jazz, complemented by delicious light bites and refreshing beverages, all while enjoying the picturesque views of the Georgian walled garden. More info here.

A Night of Creative Connections: Engage in an evening of tranquil creativity, also accompanied by delightful refreshments and the serene garden setting. More info here.

In celebration of Bealtaine, the Galway City Council Night-Time Economy is sponsoring a limited number of free tickets for the Café Lates at Dangan House for those aged 50 and over. Dangan House Café is also providing a dedicated “community table” option, encouraging social connection and interaction among attendees, a key objective of the Night-Time Economy Action Plan.

Alternatively, extend your evening into the heart of Galway's artistic scene at Just Art It in vibrant Galway's Westend. Join artist Elena Santos for two evenings of insightful artist talks, featuring perspectives from some of Galway’s most well-known creatives, Sioban Piercy and Brian Bourke. These free, ticketed events are part of the Just Art It series ‘Artist Working Talks’ and offer a unique glimpse into the creative process and the realities of the artistic profession.

This initiative closely aligns with the aims of the Bealtaine Festival by Age & Opportunity, fostering creativity among older people through intergenerational collaboration, showcasing the talents of older artists, and promoting the sharing of skills and experiences that contribute to a rich and creative life.
