Running from October 9th to 18th, Baboró’s milestone year promises more than 60 arts experiences, with artists and performers travelling from Ireland and across Europe.

Alongside family performances, the 2026 programme includes dedicated events for schools, helping to ensure that as many children as possible can experience high-quality live arts. The festival also features performances for children with additional needs, creative workshops, art exhibitions, free pop-up events and even a number of events for adults.

At Galway Arts Centre, Borneo x Ireland Cultural Exchange offers children aged three and up a chance to explore visual art inspired by two very different cultures, while Shapeshifters at Outset Gallery invites young visitors to discover artwork that explore transformation and imagination. Both exhibitions are free, making them an easy addition to a family day out in the city.

The magic of Baboró isn’t confined to the theatres and galleries! Throughout the festival, keep an eye out for free pop-up events appearing in locations around Galway City. Among them is Miss Mary, a hauntingly beautiful outdoor dance experience inspired by the spirit of Ireland’s travelling dance masters.

This October, Galway once again belongs to its youngest members, so head into the city, explore, create and see what you discover.

Baboró’s Executive Artistic Director Aislinn Ó hEocha shared: “As we look to the future, we’ll continue to nurture children’s creativity and imagination, champion exceptional work for young audiences and ensure that Baboró remains a place where every child feels seen, heard and welcome.”
