Photography Competition Terms and Conditions

Competition Terms and Conditions apply:

 

  1. All photographs submitted must be the work of the individual who submits them. Entrants must ensure that photographs of people have been taken with the permission of the subject (where identifiable).
  2. Photographers may make reasonable use of digital darkroom type techniques which enhance quality but do not distort the photograph. Only minor burning, dodging and/or colour correction is acceptable, as is cropping. High dynamic range images (HDR) and stitched panoramas are NOT acceptable. Any changes to the original Photograph not itemized here are unacceptable and will render the Photograph ineligible for a prize.
  3. The competition is open to Amateur Photographers only.
  4. All pictures should be submitted as JPEG files (.jpg). Please include a caption to explain your picture. Resolution should be medium / high (minimum of 1,000 pixels on shorter side of image, maximum of 4,000). Photographers will be credited (e.g. Picture: Mary Smith)
  5. You warrant to us that all contributions are lawful and do not infringe any rights of any third party and that you will indemnify us in respect of any breach of that warranty.
  6. This is Galway accepts no liability for any content submitted by third parties.
  7. Photographer will always retain full Copyright of their image.
  8. We respect the intellectual property of all photographers and we ask our readers to do the same. All material published is protected by copyright and no one is allowed to copy or reproduce anything without consent.
    We reserve the right to share your identity with any third party who is claiming that any photograph submitted by you violates copyright laws.
  9. You will not submit a photograph that is offensive, abusive, indecent, defamatory, obscene.
  10. You license us to use the photograph you provide on our promotional material, website, facebook and twitter and other social media and for more than once. You also licence us to use your photograph to promote This is Galway and The 2015 Retrospective Photography Competition.
  11. You accept that we may exercise editorial control over the photograph and may decide not to allow publication at our absolute discretion.
  12. We reserve the right to crop any photographs submitted by you at our discretion in order to fit the overall design and format.
  13. No payment will be made for use of the pictures submitted to 2015 RETROSPCTIVE PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION.
  14. No relatives of employees of This is Galway are allowed to enter the competition.
    Judges decision is final.
  15. This is Galway retains the right to reject or disqualify a picture from the competition.
  16. You may enter only one picture each competition week. In the case of multiple entries being sent by a single individual in a given competition week, the judges will choose one random image from the selection to put forward for consideration.
  17. Entry is restricted to people aged18 years and over.
  18. All entries must be made at the www.thisisgalway.ie/photography-competition/ page
  19. All imagery MUST be the total and exclusive work of the submitting photographer and may not include any element that is the copyright of another.
  20. The entrant will indemnify the Promoter for all liabilities, including legal costs, in relation to any action or complaint taken by any third party against the Promoter in relation to the entrant’s photograph.
  21. Entry to the Awards shall be deemed full and unconditional acceptance of the terms & conditions.
  22. This is Galway reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions.
  23. These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of Ireland and subject to the jurisdiction of the Irish Courts.
  24. When a photograph is submitted and entry finalised the entry cannot be changed or edited.
