PEOPLE OF GALWAY; THIS IS EMILY

We’re having the chats with #PeopleofGalway for the craic — messers and chancers, artists and tourists, buskers and shopkeepers, and any other unwitting victims we meet on the street.

#ThisIsGalway “Fairytale of New York is my favourite Christmas song – this is the first time I’ve heard it this year… It’s a pretty Irish thing – I think everyone’s favourite one is this, like. The only time I’ve ever heard my Dad sing in my entire life, he was singing this to my Mam. It was around Christmas time, he was pissed drunk in the car, she was driving, and he was just waddling forward, and they were both singing it together. So whenever I hear it, I just think of them. I was really young, I’d say I was about 8 or 9 at the time – it’s just a funny little story about them.”
