PEOPLE OF GALWAY; THIS IS DAVID

We’re having the chats with #PeopleofGalway for the craic — messers and chancers, artists and tourists, buskers and shopkeepers, and any other unwitting victims we meet on the street.

#ThisIsGalway “We were in the south of India, and from about June to December it’s the wet season, so there are just these torrential downpours that seem to come out of nowhere. We went on a tour in a place called the Kerala backwaters, and on the way from our hostel we were in a minibus that held maybe 20-25 people. It was a really wet day, there were cars everywhere, and we were driving pretty fast. On the right hand sight of the roads there are no veer offs for turns, so if a car wants to turn off the motorway, it just stops. There was a motorbike about 50-100m ahead of us; the minibus braked and just kept skidding and skidding and skidding – if anything we ended up just going faster, and we just smashed into the motorbike. That morning I had been talking to some people in our hostel about how I hadn’t seen a crash in my entire time in India, and then, that very day, I ended up in a crash.”
