MyMind is an Irish not-for-profit social enterprise and registered charity. Established in 2006 to address the gap between the public and private mental health sectors, MyMind provides affordable and accessible mental health services within the community. This service is for mild to moderate mental health challenges.
MyMind’s network of over 170 psychotherapists and counsellors provide face-to-face appointments in 9 locations across Ireland, and online in 25 languages. To date, MyMind has helped 34,896 individuals in navigating their mental health challenges.
September this year saw the opening of the newest MyMind centre in Galway, the space at Urban Wellbeing, on the Tuam Road, in the Tuam Retail Centre and it will provide professional, affordable, and accessible mental health services without waiting lists or need for a GP referral. This has been made possible with assistance from The Ireland Fund.
On the centre's launch night, guests were invited to join MyMind CEO, Krystian Fikert and his team at The Hyde Hotel, where Maria Walsh MEP spoke on the benefits that the organisation’s affordable counselling and psychotherapy services will bring to the local community: “When you take it down to the grassroots level with the supports that you’re offering here... People can come in, I think it’s €30 to €60 in terms of offering. They will not need to have a referral. People with nowhere to go. Even the way you’ve designed it with free car parking is phenomenal, because it alleviates the restrictions on people going and getting the help when they need it the most.” MyMind CEO, Krystian Fikert, was next to speak, outlining the impact that MyMind’s Galway location has already had in its first five weeks: “81 clients have used the service, of which 50% are Low Cost. There is definitely demand for Low Cost appointments, and we see this across the board.”
MyMind’s new Galway location will provide:
Face-to-face and Online therapy and counselling for individuals aged 18 and over.
Low-cost mental health support, with appointment rates at €30 or €60 depending on work status.
Convenient location within a multi-purpose facility, walking distance from Eyre Square, with free parking available to clients.
MyMind believes that everyone who needs mental health support should have access to that support and our high-quality services are quick and easy to access. These services are affordable, with fees linked to employment status, allowing the unemployed, full-time students and seniors to access their services at reduced rates. Revenue generated from the Standard fee clients, in addition to grant funding, allows MyMind to offer reduced fee and also free services to those most in need, such as those affected by Defective Concrete blocks and displaced Ukrainians.
This approach addresses the diverse needs of clients and breaks down barriers associated with traditional mental health services, such as stigma and access delays.
