Building on the success of the organisation's existing youth music programmes, Future Sounds has been created for young people who want to meet other musicians, collaborate creatively and make music together.

Taking place at Galway Community College throughout July, the four-week programme will bring together young musicians from across Galway to work with Music Generation Galway City's team of professional Musician Educators.

Participants will form new groups each week, exploring different musical ideas, creating original work and developing performances in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Future Sounds is open to young people who sing, rap, play an instrument, write songs or produce music. There are no auditions and participants do not need to be part of an existing band or group. The programme is designed to encourage creativity, confidence and collaboration, while giving young people the opportunity to connect with others who share their passion for making music.

David Boland, Music Development Officer with Music Generation Galway City, said: "We know there are lots of talented and creative young musicians across Galway city who may not have had the opportunity to make music with other young people. Future Sounds is about bringing those musicians together, creating new connections and giving them the time and space to collaborate, experiment and see where their creativity takes them."

Future Sounds will take place at Galway Community College from July 6th to July 29th, running Monday to Wednesday from 10am–2pm. The programme is open to young people aged 15–18.

Future Sounds is supported through the Music Generation Creativity and Collaboration Fund and is co-funded by U2, The Ireland Funds, the Arts Council/An Comhairle Ealaíon and the Department of Education.
