Save the date! Jamie McIntyre takes to the Galway stage for his first ever headline show on November 23rd. It’s going to be something special and we cannot wait! Jamie has had a whirlwind few months so we wanted to sit down and catch up with the man who manifested his success…
Jamie McIntyre is a 23 year old singer/ songwriter from Galway who is quickly becoming one to watch in the Irish music industry! Back in May, during an episode of TOON FM’s podcast, Jamie made a bold prediction about the success of his musical future. At the time Jamie hadn’t yet released his most well-known song ‘Over Galway Town’ but fast forward two months, Jamie released this hit tune and it’s continuing to exceed his wildest dreams. Still to this day the song is reaching an impressive 15,000 streams daily.
During his podcast appearance, Jamie candidly shared his future aspirations and career goals saying, “I would’ve loved to have been able to play at EP this year. That was the goal at the start of the year - to play EP, I don't know if it’ll happen or not, probably not, it's like two months away.” Little did Jamie know he’d take to the stage of Electric Picnic that August!
On September 29th, Jamie posted a clip from the podcast on his social media, captioning it: “I was randomly watching this podcast I [had] done with @TOONFM_ when I noticed that I am actually a time traveller.” Jamie encourages his followers to start looking ahead and manifesting their goals: “It’s actually mad the importance of manifesting things and having a plan in place.”
On July 19th, Jamie released ‘Over Galway Town’ and since then he has been making his dreams into a reality. Jamie tells us; “looking back over the past year, it’s difficult to process all that has happened.” He adds, “‘Over Galway Town’ has done so well, people connect with the song and they love it. I love how people have found my other songs through that, it’s so nice!”
Over Galway Town is a feel-good and uplifting tune that has definitely grabbed people's attention and it’s gaining a larger listenership every day! The song showcases Galway’s natural beauty, finding grá, and realising that perhaps what you have spent so long looking for has been on your doorstep the whole time. “In a way the song was telling me to open my eyes and that all you need is around you. You live in a beautiful place.” Jamie continues, “there’s people finding the song everyday still which is so cool. I was playing in Mary Mullens last week and the pub was packed with people singing the song, Like I wrote that song in my bedroom!”
On Friday October 4th, Jamie brought out his newest song ‘Y.O.U’. The song is overflowing with powerful and raw lyrics, touching on the topic of heartbreak. Listening to this song brings you on a rollercoaster ride full of emotion. It’s clear that emptiness, pain and regret are feelings that Jamie leaned into when writing this song. Its opening lyrics paint a picture of pain and regret when reflecting on a previous love. This powerful song opens with electrifying lyrics: “Standing away from the burn of the flames, I’m lost in the moment trapped in my mind. I want you to know this………It’s my own mistake but you told me you loved me, how could you lie…. Look in my eyes cause all I ever wanted was you.” Speaking about his newly released song ‘Y.O.U’ Jamie says: “Writing ‘Y.O.U’ came out of nowhere, I wrote it in about 10 minutes. It’s a heartbreak song but it’s upbeat.” If you would like to check it out, click here!
Over the summer, Jamie sang his heart out at Ireland’s largest music festival- Electric Picnic. Jamie has been watching his dreams come to life and he is excited for what’s to come next.
Jamie speaks to us about how it felt to play at Ireland’s Electric Picnic Festival: “It was everything I wanted and more. There wasn’t one time that I was nervous about it, I was ready!” Next summer he hopes to perform on an even bigger stage: “I want to play in the Electric Arena next year at Electric Picnic, that’s a massive target”.
If you've been enjoying Jamie's music so far stay tuned because according to Jamie some of his best work has not yet been released: “Some of my best songs are in my notes but next year most of them will be out.”
Jamie’s love for song writing began after seeing Ed Sheeran perform in Pearse Stadium, explaining that: “The Ed Sheeran concert was a massive eye opener. That night, I fell in love with writing music. Before that night I had only written one song and that was it. After the concert I went home and wrote about 5/6 songs.” Jamie adds: “I saw him playing his own songs and I thought I need to do this myself”.
After opening for Gavin James in Paris, it’s now time for Jamie McIntyre to perform his own headline show! “For me, it’s so much bigger than just a show, it gives me the financial means to be able to go and put money into doing something like this again so it’s class, I can’t wait.”
Tickets are now on sale for Jamie McIntyre’s headline show in Galway on November 23rd at 6pm in The Loft. It is guaranteed to be a fantastic evening with lots of craic and great music. You can purchase tickets for the gig on Eventbrite.
