HystERia Teatar Presents: TAXI!

Step into the life of Matthew, a taxi driver navigating more than just the bustling streets of the city. Through candid encounters with passengers - a mother juggling single parenthood, an estranged lover, and many others - Taxi! Dives right into themes of identity, fate, family and the invisible threads that connect us all.

Written by Emily Aherne and directed by Jess Harkin, this gripping psychological drama explores how fleeting connections can leave lasting marks. From awkward small talk to deeply touching conversations, this play captures the bittersweet reality of human connection. Yet, as these encounters unravel, Matthew’s own struggles come to light, revealing a haunting past that weighs heavily on his mind.

“This play came about in a strange way, or perhaps a perfectly normal one. It stemmed from a niggling feeling that, while everyone is unique, our experiences are often deeply intertwined. The story began with the final scene; I worked backwards to uncover the characters’ journeys. Along the way, I discovered that, despite their differences, they were all intrinsically linked by an invisible thread. My hope is that audiences will see reflections of themselves: parts they wish to hold onto and parts they’re ready to let go of, all in the pursuit of connection and that shared, invisible thread” explains writer Emily Aherne.
