Galway’s Culture Night Comes Alive with Interactive Art

In collaboration with the French Embassy in Ireland, Galway City Council presents “Let's Draw,” as part of Culture Night Late 2024. Let’s Draw by Maxime Touroute and Rémy Dupanloup is funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, and is part of the ongoing development and enhancement of Galway City's thriving Night-Time Economy. This innovative project will transform Galway's iconic Spanish Arch into an interactive canvas where the public becomes the artist. Read all about it here...

From Smartphones to Cityscape: A Collective Artwork

Taking place from 9pm to midnight during Galway City Culture Night Late, Let’s Draw invites participants of all ages to use their smartphones as drawing tools. Their creations will be projected in real-time onto the Comerford House building, forming a tapestry of light and colour that evolves with each stroke.

"This project demonstrates Galway City Councils dedication to activating public spaces and promoting artistic expression during the evening and night-time” said Kate Howard, Night-Time Economy Advisor at Galway City Council.

Renowned French artist and technologist Maxime Touroute has developed the cutting-edge technology that powers this interactive experience. His intuitive web-based interface allows anyone, regardless of artistic ability, to contribute to the collective artwork.

"I am excited to bring the Let’s Draw to Galway," said Touroute. "This project is about breaking down barriers between art and technology, empowering people to express themselves creatively, and celebrating the joy of shared experiences."

Galway Artists and Community join the fun

Special guest artists from Galway Cartoon Festival will participate alongside the public, offering guidance and inspiration. Themed drawing prompts will encourage collaboration and ignite a shared sense of creativity.

Let’s Draw is open to everyone, regardless of artistic experience. A limited number of drawing devices will be available for those without smartphones. Join us for a night of creativity and community.
