Toshín have been gathering momentum on the Dublin music scene for a few years, as their punchy fusion of jazz and pop gets audiences dancing and having a good time. Toshín’s music provides everything you need for an enjoyable night of music. Funky bass lines, Big Band style brass sounds, sassy lyrics and incredibly powerful vocal delivery from Tosin Bankole. Derry punk-rocker, Cherym, have been included on Hot Press Hot List for 2020 and it’s no surprise as they have been ripping up their live shows for the past while. Donal McConnon has been one of the most highly regarded musicians in Galway for many years, since his time with My Fellow Sponges and various other groups. Under the guise of The Curly Organ, however, McConnon has found his most true form. His heavily improvisational show will open your mind and eyes as he blends together music, theatre, meditation and spoken word to create an all together awakening experience. For this special show in The Ol’ 55 he will be joined by a choir and a brass band – so you know it’s going to be good! MORE

The Fiddle Case // An Taibhdhearc // Thu 20th Feb

The Fiddle Case are a traditional Irish band hailing from North Clare. Kieran O’Connell, Eoin O’Neill, Adam Shapiro, Jon O’Connell are all virtuoso performers with their instruments which feature bouzouki, double bass, guitar, bodhran, fiddle and more. They have made a name for themselves on the traditional and folk music circuit, with many impressive appearances at the likes of Doolin Folk Festival and Fleadh Cheoil as well as collaborations with pillars of folk music such as Luka Bloom and Christy Moore. The intimate, personal surroundings of An Taibhdhearc make for the perfect setting to experience first-hand the energy and heritage of Irish music which runs through the veins of The Fiddle Case.
