Culture Night Galway County invites you to take part in special events throughout Galway County on Friday 19th September from 4pm until late. Culture Night/Oíche Chultúir is a national moment, celebrating all that makes up the richness and diversity of Culture in Ireland today, connecting people to cultural activities locally and nationally.
"2025 marks the twentieth year of Culture Night, which celebrates Ireland’s rich diversity through arts, culture, and creativity," says Sharon O’Grady, Arts Officer for Galway County Council. "We invite the people of Galway to experience the wide array of cultural events and to support the dedicated individuals, community groups, and organisations producing these activities."

Multiple events including music, theatre, visual arts, poetry, zine-making, photography, drumming, crafts and storytelling for all ages are happening throughout the day and late into the evening in a location near you including An Chloc Bhreac, An Spidéil, An Tualach, Athenry, Ballinasloe, Ballinderreen, Belclare, Claregalway, Clifden, Corofin, Glenamaddy, Glinsk, Gort, Headford, Inagh Valley, Kinvara, Kylemore, Lackagh, Mountbellew, Newbridge, Oranmore, Portumna, Skehana, Tuam, Woodford, and the Aran Islands.
As part of this year’s Culture Night Late, Galway County Council proudly presents Where Light Lingers, an immersive light, performance and sound experience at Kylemore Abbey in Connemara. This stunning nighttime event will captivate audiences as the grounds of Kylemore Abbey are transformed into a magical experience through light and performance. Featuring artists Alannah Robins, Aoife Dunne, Gillian O’Shea, Jane Cassidy, Linda Schirmer, Cantairí Chonamara and Youthreach Letterfrack. Audiences are invited to Kylemore Abbey from 8:30pm, with performances to start at 9pm.

Other exciting Culture Night events in North Connemara: Artist Talk & Film Screening with Bryan Gerard Duffy and Mohamed Sleiman Labat at Interface, Inagh Valley, and Culture Night Fare with Art Together, Clifden Film Society and Just A Collective at The Square, Clifden.
In Conamara Theas, Ros na Rún invites fans to book their place for an exclusive behind the scenes tour and Q&A session with the popular Irish language TV drama series at their studio in An Spidéal. The occasion promises an exciting glimpse of what’s involved in the making of a TV drama series including viewing the individual sets, production spaces, green room and learning all about what’s involved from scripting, writing, acting and production values.
The Marine Institute, Oranmore promises an inspiring evening of marine-themed cultural experiences, A Night To Sea, celebrating Ireland’s deep connection to the sea. The dynamic programme will feature a vibrant tapestry of music, song, spoken word, visual arts, crafts, and storytelling, inspired by the ocean, coastal life, and the communities shaped by our maritime heritage.
Meanwhile, in the foyer of the Marine Institute, Solas Photography Club will host a curated exhibition of images that reflect the diverse talents and perspectives of members. The exhibition will showcase work ranging from sweeping seascapes and quiet rural scenes to intimate portraits, wildlife encounters, and documentary-style moments captured across the Wild Atlantic Way.

The Mending HeArts project in Ballinasloe offers art workshops in hospitals and community settings for people living with cardiovascular disease and stroke survivors. On Culture Night, audiences will be offered a taste of what happens in the Mending HeArts workshops, co-creating artwork and making something personal to take home.
Gorgeous Gort is an exhibition by Gort Arts Group celebrating creativity and community. Featuring local artists and others who have more recently made Gort their home, this exhibition is a beautiful reminder of the richness local creativity brings to community life.
South Galway Lakers Special Olympics Club in Loughrea is a club for athletes with intellectual disabilities. They warmly welcome athletes from other neighbouring Special Olympic clubs to join them at their Silent Disco for a truly memorable night. The event is particularly suited to those who have audio sensitivity.
One Story, Many Voices takes place at the iconic Quiet Man Station in Ballyglunin, celebrating cultural diversity within the local community. The evening features storytelling, spoken word, and music from individuals representing diverse ethnic backgrounds who are now part of Ballyglunin and its surrounding areas.

Culture Night / Oíche Chultúir, an annual, all-island public event, is brought to you by the Arts Council. It is a national moment, celebrating culture, creativity and the arts and seeks to actively promote the belief that this rich and varied culture is alive, treasured and nurtured in people’s lives, today and every day. It is delivered nationwide in cities, towns, villages and rural locations as well as online and through our media partners.
